Who we are

The original home of eating disorder recovery cutlery.

Ro Round Spoon

Lana’s Basket is the original home of recovery cutlery. The concept was established in 2014 by Elle and her husband, Grant, after Elle suffered a relapse of her eating disorder. Desperate to find something outside of treatment that would help, Grant started thinking about cutlery focused entirely on motivational recovery quotes and mantras.

With an engineering background, Grant knew that silver, and silver-plated cutlery was intended more for intermittent use and required regular upkeep, two factors that made it less appealing for someone battling through 3 meals a day. Through his work as a CNC operator, Grant had access to hard wearing industrial stamps, used in his industry to mark up different metals. Whilst on his lunch break one day, he borrowed these and stamped 3 spoons for Elle. She was overwhelmed with the sentiment of his gesture and the hand made touch of his thoughtful gifts.  Later, she shared images of her spoons to Instagram, and the response they received was incredible.

Needing something to keep her busy whilst she was unable to work, Elle began taking requests from friends and family. Initially, Grant was in charge of stamping the cutlery, whilst Elle ran everything else. Later, Elle was strong enough to take over the stamping, and Lana’s Basket was born. By 2018, Elle had registered herself as a sole trader and with the help of local incentives, her little shop became a business. Since then, Lana’s Basket has become Elle’s full time job and she continues to work from home where she can manage her own mental health, whilst earning a living and most importantly for her, supporting others in her own little unique way.
